Our Firm boasts of some of the most talented, highly qualified and experienced advocates in Uganda. Our lawyers therefore have the unique capability to handle matters in a manner that incorporates and balances legal considerations in various jurisdictions and this is gradually elevating us as a formidable firm.
In addition to the services the firm provides to its corporate clients like Financial, Water Institutions, Beverage companies and Telecom companies, the firm also offers debt collection and recovery services. The firm appreciates that part of its client’s services is providing credit to its customers and often times this comes with the need to collect from those who do not comply with terms of the credit facilities. The firm has a tailored collection strategy for your company’s needs.
We believe that all overdue accounts should be treated with the same degree of urgency whether overdue by 1 day or 100 days. The firm does not adhere to a rigid recovery formula. Rather we realise that every debtor’s circumstances are different and therefore every client should be treated as an individual. When stronger action is required, the firm has the staff and procedures in place to maximise results.
Since debt collection is time consuming, requires valuable resources and can involve lengthy negotiations, the firm seeks viable alternatives that will make recovery more responsive. These include the involvement of a strong PR and negotiation strategy as a priority in the initial stage. Our proven methods of persistence and professionalism always ensure the best result. A hands on approach, backed by experienced staff, provides the most effective, result oriented service possible. We investigate, communicate and take all reasonable collection steps to achieve a positive result.
We are currently doing debt collection, mortgage and caveat registration for DFCU Bank (U) Limited.
There work involves traversing the area of operation, distributing the demand notices and receiving responses. After the distribution, the debtors are invited to meet our processional team where terms of payment are discussed. Those who do not comply are given reminder letters and another attempt made to meet them. When the above methods fail, then, and only then, a recovery through litigation will be considered and that will also be only with the consent of the client.
All our methods will be guided by the timeframe and set targets mutually agreed between the firm and the client.
We operate with the confidence that our clients are getting the best possible results whilst keeping our clients reputation uppermost in our minds.
Our firm also provides labour and employment law advice to our clients. Much of the firm’s work takes the form of giving opinions to our clients relating to the labour and employment Laws governing the relationship between employee and employer. For those clients establishing businesses or offices in a particular country, in addition to drafting employee contracts, we advise and assist our clients in obtaining all the necessary paperwork and documents legalizing their employees (i.e. securing work permits).
Where required by our clients, the firm also facilitates training sessions to equip the Human Resource Departments of its clients with the necessary skills to ensure that staff matters are handled in accordance with the law with a view to avoid labour and industrial court disputes.
